Hammer-Proof Goo Glove

1 MIN READ

I don’t know if there will ever be a glove you can hit with a hammer without hurting your fingers, but this video suggests that it might someday be possible.

It was taken at last week’s Consumer Electronics show and features a gooey orange material (D30) that is used to absorb shock in a particular brand (Tech21) of cell phone cases. To demonstrate how well the material works the exhibitor wrapped some around his finger and then hit it with a hammer. Commenters suggested that the material might work well in football helmets and body armor — which made me wonder if it might also work in work gloves, knee pads, work boots, and the like.
