Building inspector, James Eggert of New Haven, Conn., was asked by a city housing inspector to check out a deck that he had seen on a three-family tenement. He said, in what turned out to be an understatement, “Something doesn’t look right.”
The new deck didn’t meet code; in fact, it looked like someone had been trying to violate every deck code requirement, starting at the foundation and continuing up from there.
