Dents in Wood? Grab Your Clothes Iron

Check out this video to learn about one master carpenter’s approach to removing dents from wood using a common household item.

As Jesse De Geest says in the video below, dents in wood happen. Rather than leave them or try to sand them out, he uses a combination of steam and heat to draw the wood fibers back up to the surface. His tool of choice is something you likely have kicking around at home, and if you don’t—they’re inexpensive enough to pick up. You might think that a technique like this requires sophisticated machinery and a high skill level—but if you can iron a pair of pants or a tie, you can do this.
