Makita recently introduced a fully redesigned 10-inch dual-bevel sliding compound miter saw, which is available now and has a number of exciting features. The LS1019L can sit tight to a wall thanks to its two-rail system, which is fixed and run to the front of the saw. Motor housing and blade ride the rails, instead of being fixed to them. The design is a bit like Festool’s Kapax. Cross-cutting capacity is not limited; it can still do a full 12 inches at 0 degrees.
The LS1019L has a soft-start 15-amp (up from 13-amp of LS1018) direct-drive motor. Its electronic speed control is designed to maintain constant speed under load and said to make for smoother cutting.
There’s also a larger dust-collection mouth at the back of the blade. A dust-collection bag is included, as well as a separate elbow to connect to the vacuum. When the saw is in slide mode, you’re not pulling on the vacuum’s hose.
