In one of his excellent blog posts, Allison Bailes outlines three ways combustion heating appliances – fuel-burning furnaces, boilers, and water heaters – can spell trouble for the occupants of a home. This is not a light subject. The problems range from increased condensation dripping down windows to occupants dying from carbon monoxide poisoning. While the most important decisions made to avoid such problems should be made in the design phase of a project when working out the selection of heating equipment with clients, even working in a basement around a water heater can have deadly consequences. All remodeling company owners and their field crews should know what’s at stake and how to avoid problems small and large.
